Sun Valley

A little Gem from the Sawtooths

Paula Comerlato-Medley

Idaho is one of America's best kept secrets. A gem with unimaginable clarity, invigorating crystal clear alpine lakes, and mountains that dominate the horizon. In the winter, snow so soft, it resembles powdered sugar, covers the emerald evergreens.

Are you looking for a private location, ideal for weddings, surrounded by cascading mountains? The rushing river runs parallel to the windy road traveled on. Emerald evergreen trees and white tailed deer line the journey on crisp mornings en route to Park Creek Ranch in Stanley, Idaho.

The air is cool and the dew glistens as the sun peeks out from behind the mountains. If you glance past the property, you will see beautiful, strong horses grazing in the fields. You feel an overwhelming sense of peace and serenity. This. This is what life's about. No distractions. This is the perfect place to celebrate your love with your most loved ones. God's country.

We have the exact recipe for a perfect storm, literally. As the clouds appear, the scorching sun is placed at bay and our appetite grows. The grace sofa table provided an elegant touch as the base for the dessert table (and who wouldn't want one of those!?). It is a grand display of decadent bliss housing a dreamy 3 tiered, watercolor inspired, light lemon blueberry sponge wedding cake; fresh strawberry individual party cakeballs; a vegan, personal sized, traditional white cake with a skillfully placed rose-like design of almond flavored buttercream frosting, and unique apple pies.

There are so many options to include in a dessert bar; be unique! Include flavor profiles and items that really resonate with who you are as a couple. Remember, it is YOUR wedding day. Don't leave the groom out! Consider a 3 tiered, strawberry cakeball grooms cake, gold sparkle not necessary, but uber delicious and easy to dig into; its manly yet sweet enough for the best of the fellas. Add a touch of cascading flowers for texture and appearance; you just can't go wrong with beautiful floral arrangements!

The design team is another necessary addition and such a help; imagine relieving your wedding day prep stress. That feeling (of the weight of the world) slipping away is priceless. As the bride you can enjoy your bridal portraits (and keep your wedding dress clean) sitting on a blue vintage destiny sofa, surrounded in stylish pillows, candelabras, and immaculate floral arrangements of sorts. Hiring subject matter experts, the professionals, to make your vision a reality is one of the best decisions you’ll make.

As the bride twirls and dances in her ball gown, silence sweeps in. She is beautiful. The lace covered bodice has a scalloped edge sweetheart neckline and all attention is drawn towards her waist where a rhinestone and beaded floral medallion rests. A bright representation what of the future holds. The crowd catches a sparkle and comments on the gorgeous gem crown made of a fine quartz and adorned with gold details. This morning she woke a Princess and this evening she lays in bed a Queen. Her hand rests gently in that of her new husband’s and all are in awe of the sleeping beauty turquoise and flower stacked rings. His was a matching solid, 14K gold, rugged marked band which resembles the bark of a tree. “The roots of a family tree begin with two hearts.”

Her groom places his hands around her waist from behind and they linger there for a moment, enjoying the moment they are sharing. His tan suit is so stylish that he resembles a model out of GQ; they are both clearly made for each other.

The outdoor theme continues into the Delilah sweetheart table setting with pink depression glass and vintage china. A unique floral centerpiece made of pink roses and blue thistles reflect the stylish pantone colors of this wedding season. With each setting is a small trinket, a wedding gift, from the bride and groom to their beloved guests. A gold Idaho necklace or agate (gem) necklace for the ladies and silver, rugged bands for the men.

They laugh, they drink, and they dance into the night under a starry sky.
