Holiday Inspiration!

Steven Santos

This Yuletide season is the perfect time to gather fun inspirations for your wedding or event. With all of the holiday parties and family gatherings you have so many opportunities see beautiful winter flowers, and some combinations of florals you would never expect during the winter!

I get to create so many fun holiday arrangements during this time of year. I have received requests for standard winter arrangements, explosive whimsical themes, and even Disney's Frozen arrangements! One of my favorite styles is a modern rustic theme. I create this by mixing traditional winter materials like pine cones, twigs, and evergreens with components such as exotic ferns, tropical flowers, and other non traditional material.

With the ability to overnight flowers from all over the world and the amazing greenhouse technology, it is possible to get many flowers that would be normally out of season. In this centerpiece I used some traditional materials: cranberry garden roses, spray roses, deep red hypericum berry, and evergreens. Even without adding any other florals, this would be a beautiful centerpiece. But by adding in non traditional material: Tulip Anthurium , Uhule Fern "Monkey Tail", lotus pods, and Agonis "Afterdark", it creates a more dynamic and eye catching centerpiece. I bet Grandma never thought of adding tropical flowers to her holiday centerpiece!

While you are sipping your eggnog at your next holiday party, don't forget to see what flowers they are using! You will get so many ideas to add to your wedding flowers or flowers for your next party! Just because its winter, doesn't mean you can't use tropical flowers. By Adding a few evergreens even in the spring time, you can create a new and exciting dimension to your flowers!

Happy Holidays!
